Office Om fuses ideas from yoga, mindfulness and wellbeing into everyday life-enhancing wonderfulness. From ideas and discussion on this website, to its unique and innovative programme, Office Om teaches mindfulness techniques, office yoga moves and wellbeing wisdom, which can be blended into your usual activities. It’s here to make daily lives just that little bit better.
Have you seen the stats about how many days are lost to stress-related illness each year? It’s a lot. And it costs a lot. And it’s not much fun either. Consequently, many people and businesses are awakening to what can be done to remedy this. Office Om believes there are many different strategies that can help and offers an array within one programme, to inject calm, focus and increased engagement into lives and workplaces. We’ll have some fun too.
Despite being thousands of years old, Mindfulness is big right now. It’s all about awareness and bringing focus to the here and now. The Office Om programme includes an experience of mindfulness so further practice can be developed if so wished. Whilst sitting and doing work can be very useful, it’s also important to move too. The Office Om’s yoga strand gets you moving. This isn’t dress-in-lycra-and-get-on-a-yoga-mat yoga, these are moves you can do wherever you are. Not content with improving your awareness and making your body feel better, the Office Om programme also surveys what goes on in your workplace, your mind and daily life and looks at how to make other improvements. Let’s see how good you can feel.
In your office, wherever that is. We could be talking about a typical office with desks and chairs. Although it can be wherever you call work, be that your home, garage, garden, workshop, factory or space station*. So many of us spend far too much time sitting down, stressed and forming bad habits. This programme is to help counterbalance your daily life, whatever your office. Office Om offers a programme that is adaptable to wherever you work.
I am Cathy Bailey, the founder of Office Om. I am a BACP registered counsellor and a Yoga Alliance 200hr trained yoga teacher. In the past I’ve had a tendency towards stress and anxiety. I found mindfulness, yoga and counselling on my path in my twenties, and these have helped me no end. I practice mindfulness and yoga daily, and I've studied these in various forms since the late 1990s. I started counselling training in 2004 and trained as a yoga teacher a few years ago. That’s not to say that I’m totally sorted, flexible, chilled out and Mrs Zen, but I have a load of skills and strategies to help out when life gets busy. I love helping others and I’m looking forward to sharing Office Om with more people soon.
* please note that as yet Office Om's strategies have not yet been tested in Space.
